Este rockumental es el debut directorial del genial y carismático Dave Grohl. En las profundidades del Valle de San Fernando , en medio de hileras de almacenes en ruinas, existe el secreto mejor guardado del rock n’ roll: Sound City, el mayor estudio de grabación de norteamérica poseedor de una consola de sonido única y cuya leyenda creció al grabar ahí , las bandas seminales y artistas como Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Rick Springfield, Tom Petty , Metallica y Nirvana. Con entrevistas y actuaciones de los músicos emblemáticos que grabaron algunos de los mejores álbumes de rock en el estudio, Sound City no sólo busca contar la historia de este santuario del rock de la vida real sino también celebrar el elemento humano de la música mientras Grohl reúne a algunos de los más grandes artistas del rock para colaborar en un nuevo álbum.
